CRAWFORD James
Probably born circa 1720 Died 29th March 1777

James CRAWFORD, son of John CRAWFORD and Jane CRAWFORD (née CRAWFORD of Ballysavage) married in 1740, Mabel JOHNSTON, (daughter of Hugh JOHNSTON and co-heiress with her brother Arthur JOHNSTON who died without issue). Mabel inherited the Rademon Estate, Crossgar, which remained in the possession of the SHARMAN_CRAWFORD family until 1930.

James and Mabel had a large family of four boys and three girls John b1745, Arthur b1748, Jane b1751, Anne b1753, James b1755, William b1757 , and Mary.

*It has been suggested by Dr Michael CRAWFORD in his "Working Pedigree of The Crawfords of Crawfordsburn and their Cadets" that Hugh CRAWFORD of Orangefield was one of their children, but as this is unproven, it has been left as a separate issue and can be explored further by those interested in Orangefield and Tree1e CRAWFORDS OF ORANGEFIELD

Mary was the youngest girl and therefore, given the closeness of the birth dates of her siblings, probably born circa 59-61 and John the eldest boy, so if Hugh was their child, by the same logic, he too was born 59-61 or so.
