Maria (sometimes called Mary) was the only daughter of Hugh KENNEDY of Cultra and Mabel daughter of John CURTIS of Dublin. She had one brother, John of Mount Hanover, Co Meath.

As a matter of record, Hugh KENNEDY was son of John KENNEDY who purchased Cultra from the Earl of Clanbrassil in 1671, and Martha STEWART (daughter of William STEWART of Ballylawn, Co Down and aunt of Robert, 1st Earl of Londonderry)

Maria married in Jan 1774, John Crawford of Crawfordsburn and bore him two children, Mabel Fridiswid, who was became heiress to her father, and Arthur Johnston who died circa 1827 aged about 41

Maria is buried at Kilmore.
