CRAWFORD William of Glencairn and Broughshane
Born circa 1791 Died 10 July 1881

The Rev William CRAWFORD of Glencairn and Broughshane, co Antrim; B.A. (Trin. Coll., Dublin) was baptised 27th April 1795 at Antrim Parish Church

He was twice married, firstly (on 30th Sept 1831), to Arminella Wilson* of Ballycastle, Co. Antrim, who was born 21st April 1793 and died 3rd April 1853 at Queenstown, Co Cork and was buried at Knockbreda, Co Down, and secondly, by Diocesan Licence, to Caroline KENNEDY, daughter of Major Simpson Patrick KENNEDY, 68th Regt, and is wife Catherine née BLACKWELL

He adopted his orphaned nephew, Hugh William CRAWFORD, son of Hugh CRAWFORD who was second son of Hugh CRAWFORD of Orangefield. Unfortunately Hugh William died at about 18 years of age

Curate and later Rector of Skerry and Rathcavan 1815-68

William died at Glencairn

NB. The name Arminella is rare except amongst a group of families which descend from the COSLETTs, HADDOCKs and WILLSONs of Purdysburn, Co Down. (see page 53 for a suggested relationship)

For details of this family, refer to Tree 1E

I have received information about Arminella from Nancy Overton and our discussions and document copies on the matter are in Arminella Wilson in .pdf form.
